This is a bit of a late review, but Fisher in the City truly deserves a mention! It was one of the best meals I had in Edinburgh. Tucked away on a quiet street in the Old Town, the restaurant isn’t very big, but it’s cosy, stylish, and full of character. The staff were warm, welcoming, and made us feel right at home. The menu isn’t huge, but that’s a good thing — it’s focused and well thought out. The seafood was incredibly fresh. I really enjoyed the mussel pasta — full of flavour and perfectly cooked. The oysters were also super plump and fresh. Everything was just spot-on. I’ll definitely be coming back the next time I’m in Edinburgh. Highly recommend if you’re a seafood lover!

I went there twice because of the quality and excellent service. Each and every dish I tried had a delicate finesse to it. Ada was phenomenal following up and making sure that I get the right dish.. sometimes I wouldn’t guess from the ingredients that the dish may not be halal, but Ada would say “no you can’t have this- let me see if the chef can adjust it for you”. Truly grateful for the experience and would definitely come back again should I re-visit beautiful Scotland!

My visit to this restaurant was quite enjoyable. The dishes we ordered, including the Fisher salmon & smoked haddock fish cakes, mussels with white wine cream and garlic, oysters, and prawns, were all well-prepared and tasty. The service was also commendable, adding to a pleasant dining experience.

We pre booked Fishers for a Good Friday fish meal as a family. The gentleman kindly printed out colouring in pages for the kids and gave us colouring in crayons. Lively touch. The lady that served us was great. Answered all our questions and kept our wine glasses full. I would say one of the best seafood meals we have had in Europe. Top shelf.

We stumbled upon this Fishers location (previously only knowing the one in Leith) just as they opened for lunch, so we were seated right away. The staff were warm and attentive, and our dishes arrived promptly—each one absolutely delicious. You really can’t go wrong with fresh, well-prepared seafood.

A standout seafood dining experience in the heart of Edinburgh. Fishers in the City delivers exceptional quality, with fresh, locally sourced seafood cooked to perfection. The menu offers a refined yet approachable selection—highlights included the Shetland mussels and the grilled Scottish salmon, both full of flavour and beautifully presented. The atmosphere is upscale but relaxed, making it suitable for both business lunches and special dinners. Service was attentive and knowledgeable, particularly when recommending wine pairings and daily specials. Reservations are recommended, as the restaurant can get busy, especially on weekends. Pricing is fair for the quality and portion size. Overall, a must-visit for seafood lovers visiting Edinburgh.
